The Lentilles sauvages association aims to create a self-managed organic grocery store in Chalabre.
The idea came about due to a lack of supply nearby, in terms of organic groceries.
The self-management aspect of the participatory project is guided by the desire for citizen action, sovereignty, and to promote social ties and solidarity.
Our association is administered by a collegiate body, communication and regular meetings allow us to collect the comments, suggestions, desires and needs of the members, so we decide together on important things.
By actively participating in the project, members become actors, and the grocery store reduces its operating costs to a minimum, so active members can buy products at cost price.
In our grocery store, all members are co-owners of the stock thanks to the cash advance made by each member upon joining.
Today we have a small room that is kindly lent to us, a stock of dry foods, such as rice, flour, legumes, muesli, etc.
When possible we order our products from local producers.
We are also starting to offer fresh organic products for pre-order from market gardeners and other local producers.
We open every 2 weeks for the moment, the 2nd and 4th WE: Fri 4:30 p.m.-7 p.m., Sat 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., this organization is flexible and adapts to the needs of the members.
We are looking for a larger premises, made available rent-free, such as a commercial premises, barn or other open to the street and easily accessible for delivery people, in Chalabre or a neighboring village.
